June 6, 2008 JBL'sControl NOW loudspeakers offer solutions for both indoor and outdoor applications via a unique curved shape that enables them to be placed virtually anywhere and promises to deliver high sound quality even in less-than-optimal acoustic situations.
Designed for the home, multiroom, architectural and other various locations, the quarter-round shape of the speakers means they can be corner-mounted between a ceiling and wall or between two walls, or placed either horizontally or vertically on a shelf. The can also be joined to create half-round, three-quarter-round, or round configurations, and hung from a ceiling using an optional pole-mount bracket and standard ceiling-fan hardware.
Each speaker weighs in at 6.6 lb and stands 5 inches tall with a white finish and a white grille. The casings are made from a high-strength composite material for maximum sonic clarity and durability. It should be noted that the while the AW model is an all-weather outdoor speaker, it is not waterproof. Both the indoor and outdoor models feature a tweeter mounted in a JBL Bi-Radial horn that is optimized to provide smooth frequency response in any mounting configuration. The tweeter is complemented by dual 4-inch woofers that are designed to deliver high output with minimal distortion.
Sold individually, each speaker includes a wall bracket and hardware, a multiunit wiring adapter, floor-stand adapter and two adhesive bracket covers. The JBL Control NOW loudspeakers are available at USD$249 each and the outdoor model will be available in late June 2008 for $279 each.
