One of the most interesting concepts revealed at this year's Japan Mobility Show was also one of the simplest. The barebones Toyota IMV Origin concept is potentially one of the most versatile vehicles Toyota (or any automaker) has ever built.

Rather than send those old Kallax shelving units to landfill, you may soon be able to pocket some extra cash from Ikea. It has decided to dip a toe into the used furniture marketplace with an online platform named Ikea Preowned.

Ikea has teamed up with Sonos to add another product to the Symfonisk range that debuted in 2019 with a table lamp/speaker combo and a standalone streaming speaker. This time the collaboration has merged a picture frame with a Wi-Fi speaker.

A new Ikea store planned for Copenhagen will feature a public rooftop park along with the usual selection of flatpack furniture. Designed by Dorte Mandrup, it will also boast significant energy efficient design, including a solar panel array.

Ikea has joined forces with tiny house firm Escape to produce a tiny house on wheels. Appropriately named the Ikea Tiny Home Project, the 187-sq-ft model is filled with Ikea products and can run off-the-grid thanks to roof-based solar panels.

Ikea offers another example of the greenery-covered architecture trend with its recently-revealed store planned for Austria. A departure from the bland warehouses often associated with the furniture giant, it will be covered in around 160 trees.

Last month, Ikea and teenage engineering launched the Frekvens collection of lighting and speaker modules. Now teenage engineering has added a bunch of CAD files to the mix so that owners can print off some nifty hacks.

More than two years ago, Ikea announced a collaboration with Sweden's teenage engineering to develop a range of lighting and speaker modules. The limited edition Frekvens collection will now go on sale from February.
