It's only a matter of time before an EV startup gets to addressing its lack of an SUV, and Lucid Motors' time is now. The company teases the Gravity SUV, which looks promises to be an earthly spaceship with supercar performance and market-best range.

EV maker Lucid Motors turned a few heads with the introduction of its Air sedan and its industry-leading range figures, and now it's rolling out some accessories to go with it, including a home charger that adds 80 miles (128 km) of range every hour.

Dressed as it's named, the deep-blue Lucid Air Sapphire aims to be known as the world's first "fully electric luxury super-sports sedan." It combines Lucid's roomy sedan architecture with a 1,200-hp triple-motor powertrain for a sub-2-second 0-60.

When Lucid Motors first announced its Air sedan would return 517 miles on a single charge, it sounded too good to be true. A year and change later, Lucid's best-in-market EV range stands. The EPA numbers show the 2022 Air's range surpasses 500 miles.

Since being launched in 2012, Dolby Atmos technology has found its way into theaters, living rooms, mobile devices and more. And now the immersive 3D audio experience is driving into the automotive space in the upcoming Lucid Air electric sedan.

When Lucid Motors debuted the Air sedan last month, it didn't release much information about the base model. Lucid filled that glaring hole this week, completing the "TBA" boxes with all the vitals, including a sub-Model S starting price.

Nearly four years after we first became familiar with the term "Lucid Air," the production-ready sedan has debuted ahead of 2021 delivery. With space-optimized luxury and hypercar power on tap, the Lucid Air promises to be a sedan quite unlike any other.

It was just two months ago that the Tesla Model S officially broke through the 400-mile barrier. Now Lucid Motors has made a big leap beyond by surpassing the 500-mile mark in testing its all-electric Air sedan.

A major investment through the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia should provide the capital Lucid Motors needs to complete its Arizona manufacturing facility and get the much-awaited, high-performance electric Lucid Air into production by 2020.

While we're still waiting for it to hit showrooms, Lucid Motors continues to impress with the performance of its Air sedan. On the weekend, a "production representative" Lucid Air put in a hot lap of Laguna Seca faster than an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, a Lotus Evora S or a BMW i8.

With 1,000 hp worth of electric motors to work with, Lucid Motors is intent on giving EV top speed a shot in the arm. It recently removed the speed limiter on its Air Alpha Speed Car before sending it ripping around the racing oval at 235 mph. And it filmed the run for our viewing enjoyment.
