Not long ago, the Polaris RZR Pro R was the pinnacle of retail side-by-side domination. But now it's not even the flagship of the RZR family. The all-new RZR Pro R Ultra Edition attacks all means of unimproved earth via an industry-first suspension.

Skirted fenders, spoke wheels, an air-cooled V-twin, an Indian ornament on the front fender, and plenty of leather … the very first Indian Chiefs epitomized early American motorcycling. The new Indian Chief Vintage carries forth that legacy.

It may surprise some to learn that Polaris has a serious research, development, and testing facility. I got a full tour of the place, along with a dedicated test track that I got to use later.

Now that Indian is functioning as an independent bikemaker after Polaris sold a major stake in the American company, there will be even more eyes on it ... and the Sport Scout RT becomes the first bike in Indian Motorcycle's bold new adventure.

“Polaris and Indian Motorcycle both stand to benefit from this deal…” tipped Polaris Chief Executive Officer Mike Speetzen after it was revealed that it had sold a major chunk of its share in Indian Motorcycle to Carolwood LP, a private equity firm.

After years of letting Polaris and Can-Am wrestle each other off the throne, Kawasaki is punching its way into the high-powered side-by-side battle with a beastly new supercharged machine. It will be something of a four-wheeled Ninja H2.

After a decade on the market, the three-wheeled, open-air, two-seat Polaris Slingshot is getting some significant changes. The focus is largely on its Batmobile-esque looks, along with its high-revving powertrain and suspension tuning.

RZR Racing has been on something of a tear recently. The team partnered with Sebastian Loeb Racing and put Brock Heger in the driver’s seat. Then it won the Dakar. Twice in a row. And the machine that did it is now going into factory production.

Traveling to Coos Bay, Oregon, I recently experienced the new lineup of RZR Pro side-by-side models from Polaris. On the sand, in the dunes, and on the beach, every 2025 RZR Pro showed what it can do.
