Fujitsu and Toshiba have announced IS12T, the first smartphone to run on Windows Phone 7 with the new Mango update pre-installed. The new smartphone is waterproof and dust-resistant and comes with 13.2 megapixel camera and large 32GB of internal storage.
Microsoft has also made WP7 Mango update "released to manufacturing" (RTM), which means it's now being sent to manufacturers for customization. Mango will be available on all WP7 smartphones as a free update, as well as coming pre-installed with all new devices.
Windows Phone IS12T
Released in Japan under the official name Windows Phone IS12T, the smartphone features 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 480) screen, GPS, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. IS12T is powered via 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 system on chip platform with a CPU clocked at 1GHz. It comes in citrus, magenta or black housing and its waterproof level is confirmed by IPX5 certificate. Windows Phone IS12T will be available in Japan through KDDI mobile carrier "after September 2011" with no pricing announced yet.
Mango update to Windows Phone 7
Windows Phone 7.5 dubbed Mango adds around 500 new features including a mobile version of the Internet Explorer 9 browser with HTML5 support, improved multitasking support, a conversation view for emails, threads view for SMS/MMS, IMs and Facebook chats, further integration with Bing featuring Local Scout function, as well as Office 365 and Windows Live SkyDrive support. According to a recent ComScore market analysis, Windows-based devices are still lagging behind Android, iOS and BlackBerry OS, with just 5.8 percent of smartphone market share in May 2011.
