The cars of the 2018 LA Auto Show outnumber the trucks, but trucks and SUVs are the bigger story. The show hosts the much-anticipated Jeep Gladiator, a pair of all-electric adventure trucks, a Ford F-550 dressed up in US$1.8 million clothes, and plenty of other premieres and oddities.

Audi has dropped a fun, fast, "vegan" and sexy grand touring concept at the LA Auto Show. The e-tron GT will move to production by 2020, and the concept shows off a 590-horsepower AWD electric powertrain, a 250-mile (400 km) range, and fast charging ability to the tune of 200 miles in 20 minutes.

Toyota has come forward at the LA Auto Show with another hybrid model, the new Corolla Hybrid, and an all-new all-wheel drive Prius. The Prius AWD-e features a drivetrain taken from the well-received RAV4 Hybrid. Also being shown are the company's new TRD sedans.

Automotive startup Rivian has been busy at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, debuting both the R1T pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle, the R1S. Based on the same platform, the truck and SUV are fully electric vehicles made to both go the distance and get through rough terrain on the way.
