Aston Martin's latest offering presents a radical departure from its usual design direction. If you like your cars burly and mean, you'll dig the Valen. It's also plenty fast.
We'll talk styling soon enough, but let's look under the hood first. The Valen's 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine produces a formidable 840 hp and 737.5 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. The company boldly claims this is the most powerful front-engined car ever made.
That might sound strange, given the vast majority of cars in general have their engines up front, and that includes some performance-oriented ones like the Ferrari Roma.
As it turns out, those models don't match up to the Valen's figures. If you're thinking of any of the 1,000+hp hypercars we've covered on here, those are mostly mid-engined cars, whose layouts put the engine close to the car's center of gravity. That allows for more balanced front-rear weight distribution, which in turn makes for a greater responsiveness.
The Valen, for its part, even has 14 more horses than Aston Martin's own front-mid-engined Vanquish. With that, it's targeting a 0-60-mph (0-97-km/h) time of 3 seconds (0.3 seconds quicker than the Vanquish), and it'll have its top speed limited to 214 mph (344.4 km/h).
Beyond the powertrain, this limited edition two-seater gets all kinds of weight savings, which make it a whopping 242 lb (110 kg) lighter than the V12-powered Vanquish. That's thanks to a full carbon fiber body, a titanium exhaust system, and the choice of magnesium for the 21-inch wheels.
If you're lucky enough to get behind the wheel, you'll be treated to a model-specific 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, specially tuned steering software, and Electronic Stability Programme software all working in tandem to deliver precise handling.
These are aided by Pirelli's tech that beams tire data in real-time to the vehicle's dynamic control systems to inform the ABS and traction control. Tack on all-new suspension springs, custom bespoke damper hardware, carbon ceramic brakes, and Pirelli P Zero R tires, and you've got a recipe for exceptional maneuverability across the Valen's varied driving modes.
The exterior gives off serious muscle car vibes that we haven't seen before on an Aston Martin, swapping its signature combination of oval-ish headlamps and curved trapezoid grille for a much more squared-off and sculpted front fascia.
To that end, you've got a faceted hood with a distinctive top vent, and a wide fender underscoring large slats for aero gains. The wide, rectangular headlights interestingly remain out of sight until they light up.
There are side strakes shaped into functional air vents; vortex generators down the sides direct airflow from beneath the car to reduce lift and generate downforce.
Move to the back, and you'll see a solid tailgate in place of the rear window and trunk lid. Paired with an imposing rear diffuser, quad titanium exhausts, a slim full-width light bar, and an upswept tail end, this is a backside you won't forget in a hurry.
Aston Martin's gone with a mostly minimalist approach for the interiors, where the expansive volumes and exquisite detailing add a bit of drama. The seats are designed for long-distance driving comfort, and the wide center console features 3D-printed fins flanking the prominent ignition button and gear shift.
It's nice to see the inclusion of physical buttons and scroll wheels for essential controls. This being a product of Aston's Q bespoke service, you can choose from a wide range of color options for the leather and Alcantara trims inside.
And while I love the beautifully blended Satin Andromeda Red exterior paint in the promo images, this car also looks stunning in Neutron White with blue accents in the cabin.
The Q division will only make 150 of these, and Autocar India notes it'll set you back by just over UK£1.5 million (US$2 million). If you can get through the exhaustive list of options for interior appointments and other goodies soon, you can expect to have a Valen reach your garage starting mid-2027.
