Ukraine ebike maker Delfast already has a Guinness World Record in its trophy cabinet for its Prime model, and has now had to make room for another – this time setting a new speed record at Bonneville Speed Week with an electric motorcycle.

​Earlier today we reported that Neil "Soupy" Campbell secured a new European bicycle speed record of 149 mph (240 km/h). On Sunday, 45 year-old mother of three Denise Mueller-Korenek took to Bonneville Salt Flats and recorded a speed on 183.932 mph (296 km/h) to set the overall speed record.​

After experiencing a false start of sorts at Bonneville Speed Week last month, Volkswagen has now returned to the famous salt flats and gone home with a world record in tow with a modified 2019 Jetta zipping past the land speed record for its class.

​​For over a century the Bonneville Salt Flats has drawn motoring enthusiasts to its vast open plains for its annual Speed Week, and for more than half a century one father-son duo has eyed a history-making run at the event. That dream has now been realized with a new land speed record being set.

Nearly 50 years ago, Burt Munro set a record of nearly 184 mph (296 km/h) in the under 1000 cc class on a 1920 Indian Scout. In August, Burt Munro's great nephew will pilot a new purpose-built Indian Scout Streamliner at the Bonneville Salt Flats in honor of the 50th Anniversary of that record.​

Hyundai took a 2017 Ioniq hybrid prototype to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, injected some nitrous oxide, and let 'er rip to achieve an FIA-approved production-based hybrid land speed record of 157.825 mph (253.995 km/h)​.

When Triumph introduced an entirely new Bonneville line up earlier this year, the rumor was that the next model would be a Scrambler. Triumph has taken a different path, though, by announcing the addition of a bobber to the Bonneville mix.

We're very used to writing about cars with names like "Ferrari" and "McLaren" blowing past the 200-mph (322-km/h) mark, but this month, it's the more everyday names of Volkswagen and Honda. Both automakers drove specially prepared land speed record cars to over 200 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
