  • What has over 700 horsepower (522 kW) and is the most powerful street-legal Ford ever made? The new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. Hitting the streets in the third quarter of 2019, the Shelby GT500 has a supercharged V8 and chassis components from Ford’s GT racing programs.
  • In 1968 a film was released that was to set the standard for car chase scenes. Filmed on location in San Francisco, the film starred Steve McQueen (the “King of Cool”) and a green Ford Mustang GT Fastback. 50 years later, Ford has created an homage to that: the 2019 Mustang Bullitt.
  • Ford is introducing its latest turnkey race car at the Woodward Dream Cruise as an homage to the original Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, which debuted 50 years ago. The original Cobra Jet hit the drag strip in 1968 and this latest version will have only 68 built.
  • World champion drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr has teamed up with Ford to bring a special one-off edition Ford Mustang GT to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT is a tribute to the pilots of the Royal Air Force during WWII and will be auctioned off to raise money for charity.
  • Ford Performance has released details on the upgraded 2019 Shelby GT350 Mustang. Tuned to improve lap times on the track, changes to the GT350 Mustang​ include aerodynamic improvements and new tires from Michelin.
  • This year marks the 50th anniversary for the classic film Bullitt, which featured a 1968 Ford Mustang in the movie's iconic car chase. To mark the occasion, Ford has unveiled the Mustang Bulitt that features a reworked V8 and several exterior and interior features that nod to the original.
  • Restorations of classic cars are in vogue at the moment, and Shelby American is keen to get in on the action. The team behind the 1965 GT350R, dubbed the Original Venice Crew, will build 36 recreations of that car with an independent suspension setup originally designed by Ford in 1964.
  • Ahead of the annual Carroll Shelby Tribute & Car Show​, Shelby American has unveiled two new vehicles. The Mustang Super Snake wide body and F-150 Super Snake are both predictably brash, not to mention absurdly powerful, thanks to hulking great V8 engines shoehorned under their respective hoods.

Back in 1965, the 'Stang captured the imagination of Carroll Shelby, who took just two years to turn the first-generation Mustang into the Super Snake. Ford is paying tribute to that car with the launch of the 2017 Super Snake.

  • Having moved from a heavily modified Subaru WRX to a tuned up Ford Fiesta, Ken Block jumped into the Hoonicorn Mustang. Now, it's has been given an upgrade, with a brand new twin-turbo engine making 1,400 hp.
  • Thanks to Ford Performance, a Mustang update has arrived in the form of a power-boosting package for both the EcoBoost and GT V8. Along with increases in power, the packages bring a huge torque bump and flat shift capability to the table.
