The cost of gas, more traffic and strict speed enforcement mean an increasing number of enthusiasts are heading to the track to get their kicks. The new Ford Mustang FP350S strips away all concession to comfort and road legal requirements for a proper on-the-track racing experience.

Having moved from a heavily modified Subaru WRX to a tuned up Ford Fiesta, Ken Block jumped into the Hoonicorn Mustang. Now, it's has been given an upgrade, with a brand new twin-turbo engine making 1,400 hp.

Thanks to Ford Performance, a Mustang update has arrived in the form of a power-boosting package for both the EcoBoost and GT V8. Along with increases in power, the packages bring a huge torque bump and flat shift capability to the table.

Despite its equine logo, even Ford is unsure whether its iconic Mustang was named after the wild horses of the American West or the P-51D Mustang plane. Fortunately, the carmaker is happy to play fast and loose with the story so as to create cars like the P-51D-inspired "Ole Yeller" Mustang.

Ford first teamed with Hertz back in 1966 with the Rent-a-Racer Ford Shelby GT350-H​. The relationship continued with the Shelby GT-H in 2006.​ Now, to celebrate 50 years since the first Hertz Mustang, Ford has launched the third instalment in the series, the limited edition Shelby GT-H.​
