Compelling, beautiful and just plain outrageous concept cars are one major reason the auto world remains eager to attend the annual Geneva Motor Show. No one should walk away disappointed this year, as the show is packed with intriguing concept cars looking into the present, past, near future and distant future. These concept cars had our heads on a swivel and our feet in motion from the minute we stepped off the escalator and onto the show floor.

There are world debuts, classic concept cars from the 1960s, and some of the sexiest concepts from 2017. There are comfy, convenient robo taxis. There are all-electric on/off-road sports wagons. There are electric missiles with four-figure horsepower. And then there are the really weird, wild and utterly mind-blowing. Jump to the photo gallery and experience them all for yourself.

After viewing all the pictures, I get the impression that the Japanese designers are all about "angles" and "edges," while the European designers are more about smooth curves and elegant transitions. Compare a 2018 Mercedes GLC 300 with it's Japanese counterpart the 2018 Toyota Highlander or Lexus RX350.
