Vienna’s Leitz Photographica Auctions celebrated its 20th year in business this week when it sold the camera of the man who invented 35-mm photography for €14,400,000, smashing the previous world record of €2,400,000.

Leica has announced a new addition to the M-series of retro-stylish rangefinder cameras. The M11 retains the overall look but comes with versatile new sensor technology, a high-resolution touch panel, a big battery and some internal storage.

Back in May, Sharp announced the Aquos R6, a smartphone with a camera that rocked a 1-inch CMOS sensor developed with German imaging veteran Leica. Now Leica has essentially slightly repackaged that device for its first smartphone, the Leitz Phone 1.
