Dirt Freak… with a name like that, you ought to either produce some solid, purpose-built off-road motorcycles… or an inexpensive vacuum cleaner. Happily it’s the former, in the shape of an electric moto from Japan dubbed the GE-N3.

After a rough spell over the last few years, Californian electric motorcycle startup Onyx might finally be getting on track and bringing its neo-retro-style e-mopeds back to the market, announcing a limited run of 100 two-wheelers arriving this month.

Ride1Up has launched an off-road flavor of its Revv 1 full-suspension ebike, which rolls with a similar moto-inspired vibe but gains a number of key updates designed to "enhance your riding experience while tackling rougher terrains."

Though many ebikes are designed to look like regular bicycles, a number ride a moped line. Lyric Cycles is officially launching the Graffiti X thrill machine next year, a powerful update to a current model with a 3,000-watt motor and 70-mile battery.

Although collision warning systems have become quite common on cars, we definitely don't see them much on ebikes or mopeds. That will soon change, though, when the AI-based Roadio system is rolled out next year.

We've seen a number of ebikes that are more moto than bike, and when Juiced Bikes crowdfunded the Scrambler back in 2018, it was pitched as the "best electric motorbike on the market." Now that model has entered its second generation.

Greenworks makes hundreds of indoor and outdoor power tools that run on swappable battery packs. Now the company is using those same batteries to power a new e-mobility range that will include ebikes, an electric UV and an e-minibike.

California's Juiced Bikes launched the first half ebike/half moped Scorpion back in 2019, and treated it to a performance upgrade in 2021. Now the company has returned to the off-road-capable X platform to boost the hub motor up to 1-kW.

Over the years, we've seen a bunch of ebikes that are more moped than bike, including recent models from Super73, Yamaha, Bandit and Engwe. Now Trek is riding out with the Electra Ponto Go, its own take on the fun moto-inspired vibe.

Back in 2018, a UK startup launched on Indiegogo with a tube-framed ebike that could be had with a 500-W hub motor and a kilowatt-hour battery. Now WAU has returned with the Cyber, which is described as the ebike of the future.

Ebike startup Bandit recently opened its first direct-to-consumer bricks-and-mortar store in Santa Monica, California, and is celebrating with the launch of a long-range, dual-motor, full-suspension beast called the X-Trail Pro.

Yamaha has tapped into the spirit of its low-power combustion-engine scooters for the funky design of a pair of U-framed urban electric rides called the Booster Easy ebike and Booster S-pedelec electric moped.
