This extra-wide tiny house takes a considered approach to small living, using its increased width not to sleep more people or squeeze in extra features, but instead to create an open, apartment-like home for two. It also has lots of upgrades available and can be configured to run off-grid.

Designed by Vagabond Haven, the Smile is based on a double-axle trailer, though its wheels are rated only for small on-site movements and the home must be delivered by truck. It has a length of 7.2 m (23.7 ft) and a width of 3 m (9.8 ft), which is a small but significant increase over the 2.5 m (8.2 ft) tiny house standard. The home has a chunky, boxy form and is finished in engineered wood, with metal siding.

Its living area is finished in spruce, with laminate flooring. It features a warm, modern decor and a generous ceiling height of 3.2 m (10.5 ft), which helps lend a spacious feel. The living room includes a large sofa and a coffee table, with space to add an entertainment center or additional seating, plus a wall-mounted TV.

Nearby is the kitchen, which is relatively simple and includes a sink, an induction cooktop, a fridge, and cabinetry. A dining table seats up to four people.

The bathroom is accessed from the kitchen via a pocket door and contains a shower (with a curtain or optional glass enclosure), a sink, and a choice of flushing, composting, or incinerating toilet, plus a washer/dryer.

The home includes a single bedroom, which is reached by a storage-integrated staircase. It's a typical loft-style mezzanine space with a low ceiling, and it contains a double bed.

As mentioned, there are lots of optional upgrades available for the Smile, including an off-grid system with solar panels, batteries, and water harvesting. Finishes can be changed and even a freestanding shed added. The tiny house starts at roughly €35,000 (US$41,000). We've no word on delivery, so those interested are advised to contact the firm directly.
